Ferguson Dilima
I looked at the distance Ferguson was from Kansas City, Missouri, where I went to school in the early 70's. I was surprised that it was less than 300 miles from the area I lived in, but that is a massive distance when you look at how the masses assimilate into neighborhoods and how this particular area was formed and presently policed. I do not discount the jobs that the men and women in blue do on a daily basis, as a matter of fact I condone them for the job they do on a daily basis. There is no way I would have made it in that profession because I would shot first and ask questions later. In other words my survival instincts kick in like a gunslinger and I really do not think that can be trained out of me.
I think it is important that all police forces have cameras that will record their activities such that there would be no question of what occurred. I don't blame any police force for buying the heaviest equipment at the lowest price and we all know that with the drug and terrorist battles this equipment will eventually come into play. Also I know that us tax payers pay for this equipment and would be totally upset if I paid top price for it, when it could be bought for pennies on the dollar from the government. The proper use of this equipment is the only thing that comes in question in this instance.
The actions of Ferguson PD sends a direct message to the citizens that clearly shows who they feel the enemy of their city and county are. This was a despicable act the FPD did, and if I knew the citizens of the area and a faction of the younger generation (natives) were restless before this and I had done the unthinkable, I would pull out my heaviest artillery and hunker down for the fight too. So they followed protocol.
Statistics don't lie unless they are skrewed by those outside elements we know exist. But the reality of the situation is as the old saying goes "it is what it is". We are here and we must deal with the consequences that are dealt us. But if a farmer plants corn he does not look for rice, so we as a society know what we are
I am not sure but I watched the video from that store very closely and that is not Mr Brown the smooth faced 18 year old kid that is strong arming the store owner of the store. As a matter of fact that store owner stated that he did not think that the man on the video and Mr Brown were not the same man even before the video was shown to muddle the water. This information was immaterial since the two had not been connected prior to thee encounter that left Mr Brown dead in the street for several hours before being covered. This was done to send a clear message to anyone in the neighborhood what their fate would be if they did not toe the line.
