Ode to Carl Davis

My good friend and cousin went home today, I shook his hand and told him to stay strong then he shut his eyes and started on his journey, I never would have thought that that handshake sealed the door to life that we knew in the warmth of the sun. It was a little after midnight when I got home for I needed to sleep for I had plans to... enjoy a beautiful day at the lake and return with beautiful pictures of birds and things.

I never would have dreamed that as I enjoyed a beautiful winter evening surrounded by friends that Carl Davis was well into his journey, as I drove home the phone rang and I realized my life would have a vacancy, my friend, my cousin, the Cowboy fan, that guy that always pulled for the home team was turning out the lights on the runway and had kicked back and started to enjoy the ride. I knew how tuff he was and if there was a chance he would pull through, but this timer he was tired and he was ready to join those that traveled the path before him.

He had stated before that if his life ended today he had had a great life and that we not worry about him. We are no longer worried and he is no longer suffering for we all have made our peace and now we much acknowledge that the world is not a little better without that guy that worried about us having air, lights, and computer power. I am so glad that I had a chance to spend a few hours in the sun with this good man and the world need more good men like Carl Davis. If I needed an example of a good man God show me a fellow that was good for no reason except to be good , his happiness was making sure everyone else was happy.

I will miss you my friend, and think of you whenever I flip on a light in my house or see the lights in the Dallas skyline. Kick back and enjoy the ride and when you get there tell all the good folks we are here keeping the lights burning and trying to be the best we can be.See More
